A Message from Melinda Laird, CEO/CNO

June is here and summer begins. There are few things we ask that you keep in mind to stay health observant during these summer months. There are summer wellness tips to will help you have a happy and safe summer.

It is important to get your vitamin D, it is an essential nutrients needed to support proper body functioning. It is primarily obtained via sun exposure. Boost water intake by adding 12 ounces of water every 30 minutes you spend in the heat. To reduce sun-sensitivity and risk of sun damage, make sure you are eating enough anti-inflammatory foods including: healthy fats rich in Omega-3 including fish, eggs, flaxseed, and walnuts; health saturated fats including coconut oil, avocado, and organic grass-fed butter; veggies including leafy greens and tomatoes; and antioxidantrich foods including veggies, berries, nuts and green or black tea. It is important to practice self-care. Summer is the best time to start a new wellness routine with brighter sunshine, fresh air to help us feel more energy leads us to be more optimistic to better reach personal goals.

Family Health and Fitness day is June 10th, this promotes the importance of park & recreation to keep physical active to improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance quality of life.

National Eat Veggies Day is June 17th and we know how good veggies are for us as a good source of vitamins and minerals. They also help to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

June is Wound Healing Awareness Month. At CMH we want to encourage you to take care of your wounds because it is important in taking care of your health. To schedule an appointment call 580-832-3330.

Enjoy your Summer! For your health and wellness,
