“Haunted houses” are a frightful delight around Halloween, but there’s only one scary enough to draw visitors near and far for the scare of a lifetime. The Cordell Fire Department’s (CFD) Haunted Morgue, known for its elaborate themes and scare tactics, will open its door beginning Friday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m. Certain to cause quite the scare, this haunted morgue is a two-story, 11-room gruesome wonder full of surprises in every room and at every turn.
Not only is this a Halloween tradition for some, but it also serves as the largest fundraising event for the CFD. All funds and donations raised during the haunted season go back into helping CFD serve and protect the community and themselves with the proper gear and necessities needed. Before the haunted morgue served as its now hair-raising, spine-chilling haunted phenomena, it was one of the few funeral homes in town, now making it a must-see Halloween attraction.
With new themes, characters, and more, Cordell Fire Chief Seth Slaughterback said, “We are hoping for the same outcome as the years before. Attendees can expect the same scare factor with a different look and design.”
The Haunted Morgue will open at 7:00 p.m. on the following days: October 13-15, 20-22, and 27-31, until the last guests are through. Admission is $20 per person. For $40, you can get a Fast Pass that takes you right to the front of the line.
Adults and children are welcome; children under ten use caution. The CFD has stated that flashlights and recordings are prohibited. All participants must refrain from hitting or causing bodily harm to volunteers and demand no inappropriate touching of the volunteers.
If you’re a thrill-seeker with a penchant for heart-pounding scares, look no further than the Haunted Morgue across from the CFD at 203 E Clay St., in Cordell.
