The Cordell Chamber of Commerce will kick off the Christmas season with their annual Christmas in the Park event at Lee Park on Thursday, December 1st. The festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Cordell Schools’ Fifth and Sixth Grade Choir, led by Mrs. Elizabeth Edge, will perform a variety of carols and CHS Business Professionals of America club will have a selfie booth and hot chocolate. The CHS Junior High and High School wrestling team will be selling pizza by the slice and drinks. Of course, the headlining event will be the arrival of Santa from the North Pole!! He will greet the good boys and girls and listen to their Christmas requests.
The Lions Club, along with the assistance of volunteers from the Washita County Treatment Court have turned Lee Park into a winter wonderland. Come out and enjoy the beautifully decorated park, fun treats, and entertainment from 6 – 8 p.m.
The Chamber is also holding a special run of classic holiday films at the Washita Theatre. The movie lineup includes National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation on December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and on December 11th at 3:00 p.m., A Christmas Story on December 3rd and 8th at 7:00 p.m., Gremlins on December 4th at 3:00 p.m., Elf on December 9th at 7:00 p.m., and The Polar Express on December 10th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for all showings will be $3.00. There will be great concessions and themed decorations which will enhance a night of fun for the whole family at an affordable price.
