Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a senior at our local high school, along with a senior at WTC’s Biomedical Academy. Through WTC I am a member of HOSA where I competed in a Public Service Announcement for Be the Match. After school activities I work at our local hospital where I am a housekeeper.
What is your favorite subject in school and why?
It is hard to choose between math and science. They are both classes that are intriguing to me and will be a part of my future profession. To me it is always cool to learn something new in the classes, or figure out equations to help in experiments or in the classroom.
What is something memorable you have done/experienced while attending Cordell Schools?
There is more than one memorable thing that I have experienced in high school. For my junior year, I got accepted to WTC’s Biomedical Academy where we jumped into many different science classes explaining forensics, human body systems, biology, chemistry, and medical innovations. For my senior year I got to tour many different colleges to see which one I like, and competed in HOSA activities.
What has been your favorite part of school and why?
For my senior year it was the breaks honestly. I was always so tired and felt like there was new paperwork to fill out for college. I was doing lots of projects for my school and for WTC so it was nice to relax for awhile.
What is something your fellow classmates would be surprised to know about you?
Something that would surprise my classmates is my music taste. When people see me I usually have a smile on my face or laughing about a joke. But my music taste is rock and metal. Growing up I listened to Nickelback, Ozzy Osbourne, and other bands. But now that I am older I listen to ICE NINE KILLS, Motionless in White, Black Veil Brides, Falling in Reverse, and Bring Me The Horizon.
Is there anything upcoming that you are looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to my graduation, and beginning college in the fall. I think I will really like college and be involved in activities that I didn’t do in high school. The college I’m looking into has many different things to offer for me to do. Even classes that are to help incoming freshmen prepare for their majors.
Who are your parents?
My mother is Ryan Humphrey. She is a dispatcher at the Washita County Sheriff’s Office. Along with being a mother to three children, who are active in many activities.
What is it that has motivated you to be the best student you can be?
My biggest motivation was my mom. Growing up she always worked hard to provide for my siblings and I. Making sure we had a good life, but when I started school I tried my best to do good in it. I wanted to make sure that I could do something and help my mom when she needed it. Motivating me to do good in school, and go to college.
How do you like to spend your free time when you’re not in school?
I like to spend my free time playing with my dog, Venom, listening to music on my record player, hanging out with friends, and watching movies. I like to do stuff in my free time but sometimes I end up taking a nap.
How would you describe your senior year and what are your plans looking like for after you graduate? What type of career do you want to pursue?
My senior year has been quite the year to say the least. Throughout my senior year I kept myself busy by working at our local hospital, applying for scholarships, preparing for college, and attending HOSA events. This year has been busy, so busy I sometimes forget I’m a senior. After graduation I plan to attend the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. There I will be getting a double major in forensics science and criminal justice.
