This week our Cordell Blue Devil Student Spotlight shines on sixth grader, Kody Belding. He is an adventurous kid who will undoubtedly travel the world. He enjoys writing all things and playing music. Read more about Kody and all the things he would like to be when he grows up!

Can you tell us a little about yourself? My favorite thing to do is to write or draw historic or political maps. I love to write a lot. I've written an informational text about the planet Mercury. Composing music keeps me calm. I play the clarinet. MY favorite book is Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.

How has your school year been so far? Have you done anything really fun and exciting? My school year has been amazing. I'm staying in Cordell because of the exciting activities in band and the fun times I have in school. We wrote informational essays in Mrs. Blackburn's English Class and I really enjoyed the whole process. The new ga-ga-ball pit at school is really fun, too.

What is your favorite part about school and why? My favorite part about being in school is mainly band, reading/English and social studies. I love playing my instrument, practicing with the band/quintet, and doing solos. I love writing, reading and learning grammar. Geography is my favorite part about social studies.

What do you want to be when you grow up? What would you like to do? I have a multitude of choices of things to be when I grow up. I'm thinking of an architect, lawyer, band director, musician, cartographer or real estate or a reporter for the Cordell Beacon. Do you have any openings?

Summer vacation is coming up! Is there anything you are really excited to do? I'm going to be taking oboe lessons. My uncle said we could go to Germany if the Ukraine crisis calms down at the end of the summer. My mom and I may travel to New Mexico to see friends. I'm also planning to go to Texas to see my grandmother and enjoy her delicious, world famous waffles.

Who are your parents? My mom is Ruth Hale.

What makes you happy? The things that make me happy are friends, family and my dog, Roosevelt. Practicing my music makes me focus and feel invigorated and confident.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? If I could visit anywhere in the world I would go to United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy and Poland or one of the Caribbean Islands.

Is there anything that you would like to say? I like to have a lot of opinions on things and I like to be right. I also tend to be a bit wordy.
