Commissioners approve alcohol, motor vehicle tax collections for November

At its Dec. 21 meeting, the Washita Board of County Commissioners heard staffing changes in the court clerk’s office and the treasurer’s office.

Court Clerk Lynda Vermillion named Carolyn Burns as the first deputy in her office. She replaces Kim Batt, who made a move to the treasurer’s office.

Batt And Vermillion faced off in a contentious election battle for the Washita County court clerk in the November election.

In the race, Vermillion said if she won she would terminate Batt. Batt said she wasn’t aware of any conflict, other than her running against Vermillion.

Commissioners also were notified of a change in the first deputy in the Treasurers Office. Tierra Perkins was named first deputy. Batt was named second deputy.

In other action, the commissioners signed the 2021 Rural Economic Action Plan contract between South Western Oklahoma Development Authority and Washita County in the amount of $59,752 for the purchase of a no-till drill for the Washita County Conservation District.

The board also awarded bids to Royal Printing and Midwest printing to print election ballots in different sizes. Bids are available for review in the County Clerks Office.

At its Dec. 7 meeting, commissioners approved the allocation of alcoholic beverage tax and motor vehicle tax collections for the month of November. For specific amounts, see table.
