Clinton’s Cherokee Trading Post expanding storefront to better serve customers

Cherokee Trading Post and Boot Outlet is expanding its store by 12,000 square feet to better serve local and visiting customers.

Located right off I-40 on the Custer City Rd. in Clinton, Cherokee Trading Post owners say they will be expanding to include more products while also allowing more space for customers to shop.

“The store is currently 10,000 square feet, so with this expansion our store will have a total of 22,000 square feet,” said Cherokee Trading Post and Boot Outlet owner Wesley Vercellotti. “We currently have so much inventory available that everything is crammed in our showroom making it crowded for customers coming in to shop. We have had people ask if we have considered expanding quite a few times, so we decided to do it.

“Our goal is to offer all types of western wear for all ages. We are very excited to be expanding to be able to continue to grow our store and clientele as well as offer quality pieces for our customers.”

Construction recently started and Vercellotti hopes to have the addition completed and ready for customers by Oct. 1 as long as everything stays on schedule.

“We are looking forward to having this expansion complete and we are hopeful that everything will stay on schedule for us to be able to open Oct. 1,” he said. “The concrete pad was recently poured, and crews just put up the steel to support the building. Next will be completing the framework and getting the building completed. So far, everything has been running on schedule, so we hope it will continue this way as we prepare to have this expansion finished.”

According to Vercellotti, he decided to expand the store to increase inventory and give customers more room to shop.

“We have been running out of space and people have come to us asking for more inventory as well as space to shop, so we decided it might be time to expand,” he said. “We are excited to be able to introduce more inventory into the store for customers. We are known for our boots and our goal once the expansion is finished is to have over 10,000 different styles of all sizes for customers to choose from. We are also looking to include various different brands and styles. Overall, with this expansion our customers will have even more to choose from while in a larger place to shop.”

With the expansion, Vercellotti says he hopes to increase customers coming in from I-40 as well as giving local customers a wide variety of inventory.

“We are very excited to be growing the store and by expanding it we are looking forward to having more people stop in for their western wear needs,” he said. “Our long-term goal is to become a full-service western store, saving customers time and gas money driving to Oklahoma City to find what they are looking for. This expansion will also help to continue to make us a tourist stop for travelers. We just want to continue to provide this service to all of our customers, whether they are local or travelers.”
