Candidate filing period begins April 13th

Statewide election activity officially begins at 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 13th when the filing period opens, the Secretary of the Washita County Election Board Jennifer Barnette said. The filing period ends Friday, April 15th at 5 p.m. Candidates for state offices file with the Secretary of the State Election Board. Candidates of county offices file with the Secretary of the County Election Board.

Barnette said the following local offices are expected to be filled this year: County Assessor, County Treasurer, County Commissioner #1, and County Commissioner #3. The position of District Judge will also be filled, but that will be filed with the State Board.

Filing forms and information may be obtained by contacting the Washita County Election Board at 580-832-3658, WashitaCounty@elections.ok.gov., or at their office on the first floor of the Washita County Courthouse in Cordell.

They are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Filing packets are also available for download on the State Election Board’s website at oklahoma.gov/elections.
