CALLIY WALKER COMMITS TO OBU

From Blue Devil to Bison

For Cordell High School senior Calliy Walker, years of hard work and pure dedication have turned a lifelong dream into reality.

Walker recently announced her commitment to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), where she will continue both her academic and basketball careers.

The announcement marks an exciting milestone for an athlete who has made a lasting impression not only through her athletic abilities, but also through her character and leadership.

Throughout her time at Cordell, Walker has demonstrated what it means to be a true student-athlete. Whether competing on the basketball court, representing the Blue Devils in cross country and track, or working toward success in the classroom, she has consistently shown the determination and work ethic needed to excel.

Yet, perhaps one of Walker’s most admirable qualities has little to do with statistics, medals, or individual recognition.

Despite her own accomplishments, Walker has always been the kind of athlete who puts her teammates first. Her willingness to encourage others, celebrate their successes, and contribute to something bigger than herself says more about her character than any statistic or individual accomplishment ever could.

Her commitment to OBU comes from countless hours of practice and competition, her faith, and the support of family, friends, and coaches who have helped her along the way.

In announcing her decision, Walker expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to take her talents to the collegiate level.

“I am extremely excited and grateful to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Oklahoma Baptist University,” Walker shared.

She credited her faith, family, and friends with helping her reach this milestone and offered special thanks to OBU coaches Bo Overton and Mackenzie Crusoe for believing in her and giving her the opportunity.

“I have dreamed and worked hard my entire life to be able to have the opportunity to play college basketball,” Walker wrote, adding that she was thankful for the chance to fulfill that dream.

For Walker’s mother, Starla Walker, the announcement was an emotional and exciting moment for the entire family. “Words cannot describe how excited I am for Calliy!” Starla shared. “She has dreamed and worked so hard to be able to achieve and accomplish this next level goal!” Starla also expressed appreciation for the family and friends who have supported Calliy over the years, and thanked God for the opportunity. “I will always be one of her biggest fans and love every moment of it!” she added. For the Cordell community, Walker’s commitment to OBU represents another proud moment for Blue Devil athletics. Her journey shows what can be accomplished with a genuine love for the game and a refusal to give up. While her athletic accomplishments have certainly earned recognition, the way Walker carries herself, treats others, and supports her teammates makes her an exceptional representative of Cordell High School. Before she trades her Blue Devil uniform for the green and gold of OBU, Walker has one final basketball season ahead of her in blue and white. While her future as a Bison is right around the corner, there’s still plenty of basketball left to play right here at home.

And while the next chapter of her basketball career will be written in Shawnee, there is little doubt Cordell will cheer her on every step of the way.
