Blue Devil Meet the Players and Pie Auction is next week

Keep your pies on the players as Cordell Schools amp up another Annual Pie Auction and Meet the Players event!

Community members can make their way to the Blue Devil Stadium Thursday, August 11, at 6:30 to rally and support the football players and cheerleaders.

The money from this fundraiser is used towards covering the cost of travel expenses, team uniforms, and any equipment that they might need for the football boys and cheerleaders.

The ever-so-loved event is set up as an auction where those who attend are able to bid on a pie that gives them the chance to “pie” a player or cheerleader in the face. An opportunity to pie the coaches are auctioned off as well.

“I’ve heard good things about the pie auction so I’m excited,” expressed Cordell Head Football Coach, Cody Gilmore.

Not only is this a way for the players and cheerleaders to see all those who support and share Cordell pride, but it is also a fun way for Cordell residents to come out and see this year’s football and cheerleader lineup.

“It’s a great time to come out and meet the athletes and put faces and names to the numbers that are on the field playing every Friday night!” mentioned Cordell Assistant Football Coach, Buddy Holman. Meet the Players portion of the event allows the players to have the spotlight and introduce themselves, tell who their parents are, what grade they’re in, and what position they play. “The cheerleaders have been putting on the pie auction for as long as I can remember. I believe it has kicked off every football season since the early 2000’s!” stated Holman. “Alisa Boecker and the cheer squad always make it a fun event! Robert Putman and his crew do an excellent job helping to raise money that supports both squads. We hope that everyone will come out and support these guys and gals next week and throughout the season to come!” Show your Blue Devil Pride and help occu-pie the stands.
