The Bessie Pancake and Whole Hog Supper has successfully completed another round of feeding the surrounding communities with purpose and generosity – again!
“The 2023 Bessie Pancake and Whole Hog Sausage Supper was a great success. We actually ran out of the sausage we were serving during the supper, but we still have packaged sausage for sale,” stated Bessie Fireman Matthew Goeringer.
With the help and support from community members, the Bessie Fire Department (BFD) hand rolled 800 pounds of sausage to be served at the supper. As Goeringer has stated, the BFD still has packaged sausage of all varieties for sale. Those who wish to purchase some can do so at the Bessie or Cordell CO-OP and at the Bessie City Hall.
“If you combine all of the meals we served (to-go orders in the alley, people sitting down inside, and to-go orders inside) we served a total of 1,185 people; an increase from last year’s 993. We are so happy with the support that we have received from the community with this event. We hope to continue the supper for many many years to come,” expressed Goeringer.
A total of 43 hogs were butchered for this year’s supper. The winners of the raffle that was held were: Chad Horn, 2023 Polaris Four Wheeler and Danny Wedel, 9mm Pistol
