The Carla Whinery Black Scholarship was presented to Logan Kemp and Kathryn Sirmon on May 15th, 2026. This scholarship is given on a yearly basis to a Burns Flat-Dill City graduate(s). Carla was the daughter of Robert and Carleene Whinery and wife of Jerry Black. The families have lived in the Dill City vicinity all their lives. Carla was a 1971 graduate of Dill City High School. She was an honor student, active in community activities, and was an employee of the Dill State Bank. Carla lost her life in a car accident. The scholarship was presented by Mr. Jimmy Piercey.
