On Tuesday, Jan. 18, Cordell Masonic Lodge #127 facilitated the donation of 12,000 pairs of sweatpants and sweatshirts from Jim and Dana Price of Price Prints to the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.
Cordell Masonic Lodge #127 said this donation will go a long way in helping to provide clothing for our heroes who live in our Oklahoma Veterans Hospitals.
The sweat suits were from a previous military contract, so there couldn’t be a more perfect home than the Veterans Center.
“They didn’t end up with recruits, but they ended up on the other side of it. So we were happy that we could make that donation,” said Price.
With the help of Levi Jones, who used to be a diesel mechanic instructor at Western Technology Center in Burns Flat, they were able to get the necessary trucking service donated from Caddo Kiowa Technology Center Truck Driver Training.
“It was a cool deal to be a part of. We get to do a lot of this sort of thing and this was a really big one for us,” said Landon Jones, Worshipful Master Cordell Mason Lodge #127 of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of the State of Oklahoma.
“It’s a really cool feeling to be able to do this. There’s a lot that the lodge allows you to be able to do that you would not be able to otherwise,” Jones continued.
Jones has been a member of the Cordell Masonic Lodge #127 for going on eight years. “Next to Church, this is the best thing to be a part of,” mentioned Jones.
The Masonic Lodge is one of the world’s oldest fraternity for men. Their mission is to promote a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences; by teaching the great principles of brotherly love, relief and truth.
“It’s a set of morals tied up in allegory. We teach moral lessons to guys on how they should live their lives, how they should act with other people,” stated Jones.
Their purpose is to make good men better. Jones continued to say “Charity is one of the chief obligations of a mason. We try to give back in many ways but our primary focus is about making each individual a better man.”
The Cordell Masonic Lodge publicly thanked their partners in the donation effort, Price Prints, Caddo Kiowa Technology Center and the staff at Veterans Affairs for their help, stating that they couldn’t have made this possible without them.
