“We had a great Fourth! The event that [the Cordell Chamber of Commerce] put on was a blast! We had so much fun,” Selby Rogers said. “The slides the [Cordell Fire Department] put on was amazing. My son absolutely loved it and so did I.” Selby Rogers shared the same sentiment that many other Cordell residents had in that they hope to see the 4th of July Hometown Celebration done again next year.
“The firework show the CFD put on was perfect. They did an amazing job! Loved that we didn’t have to leave town to catch a firework show! So proud of our town for doing this!”

“Our Fourth of July started on the 3rd with the first ever CFD firework show which was spectacular!! Then on the Fourth we made our way to my other family in Hobart,” Ethan Newman said. “We had an over abundant amount of meat so it made for a great cookout. Then we just celebrated our freedom with lots of sparklers, firecrackers, and some bigger fireworks!!!”
Both Ethan and Maddie were raised in Cordell and have an extensive amount of family here.
“I want my kids to see the hometown we were raised in and all 30 of my other family members reside here as well!!”

“[We] traveled to Fort Gibson Lake to spend time with family. [Bentley] enjoyed sliding down the slide on the pontoon and popping fireworks to end the night,” his mom Bariah Watson said.
