On 04/02/2024, at 20:36 hours an officer observed a dark in color motorcycle facing east in the the turn lane. The motorcycle turned north and accelerated rapidly. LIDAR showed motorcycles speed at 46 MPH and climbing in a 25 MPH Zone. The officer activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop at Highway 183 and 3rd St. The motorcycle made a left turn, now going west, and the rider put his left hand in the air with 1 finger up, like he was saying hold on, and the bike started wobbling violently like it was going to fall over. The rider recovered and continued until 3rd and Market and made another turn to go north. The officer activated his siren before the turn and the rider finally came to a stop.
As soon the officer exited his vehicle the driver stated, “yes sir?” The officer asked him if there was a reason he did 46 mph in a 25-mph zone. The driver replied with “No, I didn’t mean” and then trailed off. The drivers speech was very slurred and had the smell associated with alcohol coming from the driver. The officer had the driver get off the bike and take a seat on the curb next to it. The driver stumbled while getting off his motorcycle.

Dispatch notified that the tag had expired on 03-31-2021. The tag on the motorcycle had a 2024 sticker on it.
