Washita County’s number of new positive COVID-19 cases for at least the third consecutive week is only slightly up from two weeks ago, figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show.
However, the number of deaths has more than doubled but that’s due to the Oklahoma State Department of Health system that is catching up from those not previously reported.
The total number testing positive in the county is now1,073. It was 1,067 last week, an increase of only six. It was 1,064 two weeks ago. Three weeks ago the number was 1,061 and four weeks ago it stood at 1,057
Total deaths in the county now attributed to COVID-19 stands at 21, the OSDH reports. There were nine reported deaths in the county prior to April 7. That is a jump of 12 as of April 7, the OSDH is reporting.
Of the 1,073 cases, 1,027 have recovered, the OSDH said.
Of the positive 1,073 cases, Cordell has the most with 328. Of the 328, there have been 314 who have recovered. Last week there were 325 positive cases. Of those, 313 had recovered.
Cordell has six of the deaths in the county. Burns Flat, still has had 148 cases, the same number previously reported. It has the second highest number in the county. Of those, 141 have recovered, the OSDH said. Burns Flat also has two of the reported deaths in the county. Canute has 136, one more than a week ago. It has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 110. Of the 136 in Canute, 128 have recovered and 107 have recovered in Sentinel. Canute has two of the county’s deaths. Sentinel also has two of the deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19, the OSDH reports. Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 65 and 63; Rocky 39 and 38. Statewide as of Monday, 443,773 people have tested positive. On Monday, the OSDH reported 968 new cases and 31 more deaths since last Friday, April 9. The OSDH reports more than 3,438,372, people have tested negative.
