The Cordell Lady Blue Devils traveled down to Cache on Thursday to play in the Wichita Mountain Classic. The tournament was played on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday, the Lady Blue Devils won a tight contest with the Velma Alma Lady Comets. It came down to the wire, but we won 7-6.

It has been formally announced that a big change is coming to Cordell Blue Devil High School Football. Please read below the press release provided by Cordell’s Superintendent Sam Belcher.

New Business Ribbon Cutting

Western Charms Creations, located at 200 N. College, celebrated with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony last week. Owners are Trista Wehunt and Amy Thetford. They offer handmade custom t-shirts and sweatshirts along with jewelry and other boutique-style items.

Now on the 18th day of August 2025, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Gossen calling the meeting to order.Chairman Gossen asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call.
Cordell Fire Department’s Fire Chief Seth Slaughterback, along with firefighters Lincoln Hunter and Mike Morel, stand with Wheeler Ford of Cordell’s David Thaine beside the department’s new brush truck. Once fully completed and equipped, the truck will enhance the department’s ability to better serve and protect the community. The purchase of the truck was fully funded by an equipment grant.
