Three Cordell students will power their way to the top in wrestling as they battle in the upcoming OKWA 46th Annual State Tournament in Oklahoma City at the Jim Norick Arena this Friday and Saturday, February 16-17. Preslie Dickerson, Mason Hileman, and Baylor Moore completed in Regionals in Norman, OK, this past weekend, each coming out on top with Dickerson, 6U 43 lb Girls 1st Place, Hileman, 8U 52 lb open 4th Place, and Moore, 15U 126 lb Girls 2nd Place. In a night filled with excitement and spirited competition, the Tuesday basketball games at our high school showcased not only the athletic prowess of our teams but also celebrated the achievements of our students. The festivities kicked off with the homecoming ceremony, where Carlie Banks and Scout Regier emerged as the winners.

Two Cordell Elementary students showcase their talents on the mat during an exciting weekend of wrestling. Mason Hileman, wrestling for the Clinton Peewee Wrestling program, competed in the 2024 Battle of the Bears in Noble, OK, on Saturday, January 20. Hileman received Novice 8U 52 lbs Champion and placed 2nd in Open 8U 52 lbs.

The first Cordell Classic Basketball Tournament unfolded with thrilling matches and standout performances from the girl’s and boys’ teams. On Thursday, in an exceptional display of skill, the girls’ team secured a resounding victory, triumphing 81-14 against Olustee-Eldorado High School.

In an exhilarating week of high school basketball, the Cordell Blue Devils faced strong opponents, the Carnegie Wildcats on Tuesday and the Sayre Eagles on Friday. The matchups unfolded with a mix of triumphs, challenges, and unexpected highlights. The Lady Blue Devils set the tone with a resounding 59-46 victory over the Wildcats. Birdie Brown emerged as the star of the game, lighting up the scoreboard with an impressive 29 points while Peyton Garrison added 23 points to the tally. Rylee Chagollia, McKinsey Gray and Allee Brock all added 2 points each, and Calliy Walker contributed 1 point. However, all the girls worked together to secure the win. During halftime of the girls' game, the entertainment took a heartwarming turn as 4th-grade kids, under the coaching of Cody Gilmore, engaged in a spirited scrimmage, captivating the audience and fostering a sense of community.
