The Oklahoma Board of Education may have declared an end to the 2020 high school spring sports seasons, but that hasn’t stopped Cordell’s sports parents from showing their love and support of the Blue Devils.

On Saturday, April 3, a number of signs appeared on the square in support of the Blue Devil teams and players whose seasons ended before they really got underway. The signs appear much like the weekly football signs that fly on business windows around the square during the fall season, which is only appropriate since they are the work of the same group of parents.

Nikki Kuehne, Kaitlin Kuehne, and April Cochran took the time to paint all of the signs - within their own homes and practicing social distancing, of course. After they were painted and ready, Rob Kuehne and Darrin Taylor jumped in to help hang them under the Cordell mural at the east end of the square.

“We are all so sad that the kids have missed their spring sports season,” said Nikki Kuehne. “It’s such a busy time for the kids. We want them to know how much we have missed watching them compete and the appreciation we have for all they put into their sports. For our seniors this is it. We will miss them and this was a little tribute for them.”
