Local junior golfer Birdie Brown, a sixth-grader at Cordell Elementary, placed third overall and first in putting at the 2020 Drive, Chip, and Putt contest in the 12-13 year old division. She will compete Aug. 1, 2019, at the sub-regional contest in Tulsa. The 11-year-old Brown was bumped into the older age division as she will be 12 when the contest takes place.
Brown is the 11-year-old daughter of Jeff and Amy Brown of Cordell and the sister of Cordell golf stand-outs Heston and Megan Brown.
