The next generation of Blue Devils baseball and softball players wrapped up their seasons this week, with Cordell’s 8U and 10U softball teams posting perfect, undefeated records on the year.

The season begins with volunteers taking to the fields at Gregory Park to remove weeds and grass from the infields and and hauling in additional dirt as needed to smooth out the base area. Before every game the coaches come out to rake the dirt, chalk the fields, and make sure the fields look good for the players, visitors, and spectators, and then the fun begins.

More than 160 kids came out this year to be part of Cordell’s recreation league, with three softball teams, six t-ball teams, one coach-pitch, one pee wee, and one midget team. Twenty-three volunteers stepped up to help coach Cordell’s kids this year, under the direction of league president Jay Todd and his primary helpers Kristin Todd, Rachel Neeley, Brandon Neeley, David Thain, Gina Thain, and Nathan Larsen.
