The girls’ junior high basketball team played their first game against Carnegie. “The game went extremely well and the girls' defense and rebounding is excellent,” Coach Love told me during our conversation. Additionally, he states that “he likes a team that plays the best of their abilities.” He will be happy with a team if they put their all into the game and play hard.

In the seventh-grade match, they prevailed 19 to 9. With 6 points, Rylee Larsen (#22), Brylie Reeves(#14) scored 5 points, Mylee Brunker (#20), and Emma Holman (#50) each scored 4 points. Mylee Brunker(#20) told me that while the game went fairly well overall, they could have scored more points if they hadn’t rushed when they saw potential shots. She hopes to win 18 games. She looks up to her mother Heather Brunker because she puts in a lot of effort to reach her objectives and teaches her daughter that it doesn’t matter if you are a starter as long as you work hard and lock down when you do play. Her mother encourages her to improve since she is confident in her ability to accomplish numerous goals in life.

Rylee Larsen, with whom I also spoke with, expressed her hope that the 7th grade team wins most of their games. She looks up to Mrs. Brown and finds her to be very encouraging, so she’s thrilled to have her as her coach.

The 8th and 9th grade game went amazingly well.

They blew Carnegie out of the waters with smothering defense and a very explosive offensive game. Offense and Defense played lights and and they were clicking on all cylinders. They won by a score of 41 to 14! Calliy Walker(#30), was the offensive player of the game, with 14 points, Emma Holman (#35), Mackinlee Brunker (#20) with 8 points, Traylnn Moss (#22) had 6 points, and Kilie Rasmussen (#00) had 4 points. The teams played amazing and worked great as a unit. Now that right there is one way to start the season. Cordell is extremely proud of the hard work the girls have put in so far this season.
