BOYS BASKETBALL

The Cordell Blue Devils enjoyed an up-and-down week.

While they secured their first win of the season, they also lost three other games, but they played some exciting ball in the Burns Flat-Dill City tournament.

Dec. 8: Hinton 40, Cordell 35

The Cordell Blue Devils played a close game on the road against Hinton, ultimately falling to the Hinton Comets. Senior Brady Reimer led the Blue Devils in this battle, scoring 13 of the team’s 35 points. Kray Rogers added 9 points.

BFDC Tournament game 1: Cordell 54, Mangum 51

The Devils took their first win of the season over the Mangum Tigers in the first round of the BFDC Tournament. Freshman Kray Rogers scored 19 points for the team. Brady Reimer added 13 points and Bode Gallagher and Blaine Larsen each had 10.

BFDC Tournament game 2: Hobart 45, Cordell 35

The Devils fell to the Hobart Bearcats in the second round of the BFDC tournament, taking a loss by 10 points. Brady Reimer sunk four 3-pointers for the team in this game en route to 14 points. Blaine Larsen added 8 points.

BFDC Tournament game 3: Hinton 54; Cordell 48

The Hinton Comets defeated the Devils in the third round of the BFDC tournament, topping them by six points to notch their second win over Cordell in a week.. Dawson had the hot hand from behind the arc for Cordell, sinking four 3-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points. Freshman Danny Corbin contributed three 3-pointers en route to 13 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Like the boys team, the Cordell Lady Devils earned their first win of the season, finishing the week 1-2, which is also their season record.

Dec. 8: Hinton 47; Cordell 45 This was the first of two matchups with the Comets during the week. The Devils fell short by two points in this game, a result of Hinton scoring a last-second layup. The lead scorers for Cordell were Renee Javorsky and Ellie Willard, as both girls tallied 11 points.

BFDC Tournament game 1: Mangum 54; Cordell 53

In their first round of the BFDC Tournament, the Lady Devils played against Mangum. Freshman Ellie Willard scored 17 points for the team in this game, and her efforts were followed by Seniors Andrea Palmer and Mckinzey Isbell who scored seven points each. The girls started slowly and trailed by 15 points at the half. They rallied in the second half, behind a 25-point fourth quarter but fell short.

BFDC Tournament game 2: Cordell 35, Hinton 25

The Lady Devils finished their week on a good note, bringing home a win against Hinton in the rematch. Ellie

Willard showed her shooting strength yet again in this game scoring 20 of the team's points. The Devils’ defense clamped down on the Comets in the fourth quarter and didn’t allow a single point.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

The Cordell Wrestling team’s tournament at Westmore on Dec. 8 was canceled. The basketball games scheduled for Dec. 15 vs. Mountain View have been moved to Jan. 2.
