Blue Devils Fall To Sayre Eagles 18-0 At Home

The Sayre Eagles traveled to Cordell to face the Blue Devils at Homecoming 2019, in a reverse rematch of last year’s Sayre Homecoming game. After a hard-fought contest from both teams, the Eagles came out on top of the Blue Devils, 18-0.

The first half was a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to move the ball downfield. Possession after possession resulted in either a punt or turnover, resulting in a 0-0 score as the half came to a close.

The third quarter looked like it was going to be more of the same, as the teams battled back and forth, each gaining some ground but unable to reach the goal line. Then, with just 33 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles punched one across and broke the scoreless tie to go up 6-0. They missed the point after attempt.

The beginning of the fourth quarter saw the Eagles start to exert their control over the game. Sayre’s defense grabbed an Adden Zanghi pass out of the air and ran it back for a touchdown, boosting their lead to 12-0. Another missed PAT kept the score there.

After more back and forth, the Eagles managed to add another touchdown to the scoreboard, with another missed extra point leaving the final score at 18-0.
