In a gnarly battle on the road against The Rush Springs Redskins, The Cordell Blue Devils were unfortunately defeated. The final score for the game was 7-3, Cordell being the latter.

Head Coach Zane Trammell told The Beacon, “We have too many small mistakes that turn into big moments that we need to capitalize on.” He elaborated on this statement in saying, “We’re missing blocking assignments and hitting the wrong gap on the first and second down.”

“When it’s third and long, when we need a big play or a big catch, we’re not taking advantage of the opportunities given to us.”

Coach went on to commend the effort put forth by the boys on the field and their attitude throughout the game, with the exception of the first two minutes of play, in which the Redskins scored.

Trammell commented, “We just have to clean up our game, defensively we did a really good job.” He went on to credit the use of “special teams” to “keep the Devils in the game and put points on the board.”

Trammell also spoke of some extraordinary players on the field, described as follows: Linebacker, Adden Zanghi, credited for being a “dog on the field” and maintaining an “extremely high” tackle count; Running Back, Dane Corbin, commended for “continuing to run the ball hard for his team”; and the Freshmen boys, applauded for “stepping into big roles and holding up well.”

The Cordell Blue Devils will play their next game at home against the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles; kickoff will be at 7:00 pm. The Cordell Cheer team encourages everyone to wear blue & white to this game to show your spirit while supporting our Blue Devil Boys.
