The Cordell Lady Blue Devil Softball Team played five games last week, maintaining a busy schedule similar to the week prior.

On Monday the girls travelled to Hooker, playing two games against the Hooker Bulldogs, both resulting in a loss. The first game held a final score of 5-3, The second 24-6.

Tuesday’s game was played at home against the Snyder Cyclones also resulted in a loss. Head Coach Whitney Misak told The Beacon, “Tonight, we swung the bat really well against one of the best pitchers the girls have seen, we just couldn’t put anything together.”

Coach Misak also specifically highlighted the batting performance of Kenlee Dodd, Ellie Willard, and Andrea Palmer.

The Cordell Softball Girls went on to play two more games, back to back, on Friday in Sentinel.

Friday’s first game was played against the Sentinel Bulldogs. The girls came out strong in the first inning, with senior Andrea Palmer scoring a run for the team early on. The Lady Devils held the Bulldogs well until the third inning, when the Bulldogs began to pull ahead. Senior Andrea Palmer commended Ellie Willard’s pitching ability in the latter stretch of the Sentinel game. Despite their efforts the devils were defeated by the Bulldogs, ending the game with a score of 13-1.

Friday’s second game was played against the Arapaho-Butler Indians. The Indians came out strong. Unfortunately, the worn out Blue Devils were unable to hit off of the Indian’s pitches. The final score of the game against Arapaho-Butler was 12-1 sending the Blue Devils home with five losses for the week.

This week the girls will play multiple games. The first game will be played at home against Granite, other games will be played in the Snyder softball tournament lasting Thursday through Saturday.
