Body

June 16, 1953– Jan 30, 2024

Virgil “Kent” St. John was born to Everett St. John and Billie Jean Richardson St. John on June 16, 1953, at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kent was the oldest son and the third of six children: Carolyn Jean, Marquita Ann, Tony Ray, Dixie Loraine and Everett Chris.

Kent met Denise, his first wife and mother of his children in 1971, when his family moved to Burns Flat, OK. Kent and Denise both graduated from Burns Flat High School in May of 1972 and were married later that year on September 9, 1972, in Burns Flat. From this union three children were born: Sherron Jean, Sharla Christine and Marc Anthony. Sadly, Kent was preceded in death by an infant daughter who passed away in the womb in 1973. His three children have given him

9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with one more on the way!

From the day Kent got out of school he worked. He was a hard worker and dedicated employee. He took very good care of his own family, and always welcomed extended members of the family to live with them (there was a bunch)! He spent much of his career working for the Dean Williams family in the metal doorframe business. Elco Metal Products was the original company name, and later transitioned to a couple of other names but Kent remained loyal to them and continued to work in the business.

Life was challenging for Kent and Denise, and they divorced. However, both remained living in Burns Flat to raise their children.

Later in life, Kent met Becky Partain and they were married until Becky’s death on September 11, 2008. He moved to Yukon in 2013 to help take care of his mom and step father. They eventually moved to Collinsville in 2017.

Kent loved to work with his hands. He was always tinkering with something in the garage or around the house. He also enjoyed cooking, especially on his grill. When he wasn’t working on something, he enjoyed watching Street Outlaws and Castle. He also loved when his daughters would use snapchat filters with him, which made for some fun memories. Even though we live in a digital world, Kent still enjoyed reading the Newspaper and always looking for places on his atlas.

Kent passed away on January 30, 2024, at 11:54 pm at Hillcrest South Medical Center in Tulsa with his best friend and sister, Carolyn by his side as well as his daughter, Sherron and son-in-law Sean. Kent’s love of family and friend will never be forgotten.

Kent is survived by his three children: Sherron and Sean Brown, Sharla and Jon Haworth and Marc St. John. His siblings: Carloyn St. John, Marquita (ED) Boyd, Tony (Bonnie) St. John, Dixie St. John and Chris (Candice Ellis) St. John. Nine grandchildren: Trenton (Tonia) Knight, Taylor (Nick) Prince, Natalie (Kaleb Fischer) Haworth, Dyllan (Kali) Haworth, Braylan (Randie Helt) Haworth, Ryleigh Braddock, Addyson Braddock, Mason and Talyn St. John. Three great-grandchildren with one of the way as well as numerous extended family members.

Funeral Services will be held at Speak Life Meadowview in Collinsville, OK at 1:00 pm on February 5, 2024, with Kent’s cousin and good friend, Pastor David Payne officiating. His final resting spot will be in Elk City, OK with his wife, Becky and his beloved dog, Mr. Pete.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
