Truman Eugene Smith was born July 18, 1929, to Othie and Bettie (Millwee) Smith. He passed away June 3, 2019, at his home in Hydro. Truman graduated from Hydro High School in 1946.

Truman married Ila Belle Baskett on June 1, 1950, in Clinton. They owned and operated the Pee Wee Grill in Clinton, Maytag Appliance Store in Clinton, the Colony Café and Catering in Colony.

Truman also Pastored the Rocky First Baptist Church for three years, the Colony Baptist Church for 39 years, and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Geary, for 10 years.

Truman was also very active in FFA, farming and ranching.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and motherin-law; daughter in law Rhonda Smith; and brother in law BJ Peveler.

Survivors are wife, Ila Belle Smith; sister-in-law Pearl Peveler; sons Wayne and his wife Janice of Colony, Terry and his wife Diana of Hinton; and daughter and husband, Debbie and David Lasley of Hydro; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the Hydro Baptist Church and burial at Poage cemetery under Lockstone Funeral Home.
