Ralph Kent McLaughlin, 71, of Cordell, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. He was born on March 19, 1948, to John and Lucille R. (Clostermary) McLaughlin in San Diego, Calif.

After high school he enlisted in the United States Army on Sept. 21, 1967, and served for nine months in Vietnam, honorably ending his service Sept. 19, 1969.

He married Shirley Gray, his wife of 51 years, on April 4, 1969, in Chickasha. Ralph worked as a lineman for the City of New Cordell. After retirement he worked as an electrician.

Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Shirley, of the home; son Steve McLaughlin (Stacia) of Cordell; sisters Karen McLauglin and Kay Brown; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille McLaughlin. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cordell. Interment followed at the Parkersburg Cemetery in Clinton.

Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and Thrusday, Feb. 20, with the family welcoming guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
