Orlene Ridling, 86, a beautiful and faithful servant of God, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Orlene was born August 21, 1934 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Orval and Orble (Ormand) Henderson.

A lifelong resident of Sentinel, Orlene was a quiet, generous woman who always helped others and never expected recognition.

She leaves a lasting legacy of drive, determination, hard work, community service, and love for family.

Orlene graduated in 1952 from Sentinel High School and married Barton Ridling on September 5, 1952, sharing 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Together, Orlene and Barton established a farming and ranching business in Sentinel. Orlene was a devoted homemaker known for her attention to detail and for preparing fabulous meals.

Orlene started working at the First Baptist Church while in high school, and she continued serving her church until her death. She currently served as Sunday School secretary and recorded attendance for the First Kids.

A faithful supporter of her hometown of Sentinel, Orlene was active with the Sentinel Chamber of Commerce and assisted when needed at the Sentinel Community Center. She helped organize the Sentinel High School Alumni Association, serving as its first secretary in 1955, and volunteering to serve until her death.

An avid reader, Orlene began in 2008 journaling the books she read and to date had recorded 1,758 books. She also enjoyed playing cards with the ladies and helped her community by working elections.

Orlene and Barton always enjoyed traveling in their motor home, acquiring many new friends over the years during their road trips.

Possessing an incredible memory, Orlene could be counted on to share family history and knowledge. She was the best Grammy and cherished time with her large family. She will be missed by those she was close to and touched so many lives.

Orlene is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jerri Evetts, grandson, Rance Blake Ridling, great-grandson, Brayden Conner Hayes, and son-in-law, Anton V. Yanda, III.

Survivors include her husband Barton; children, Kathie Little and husband Mark, Donna J. Yanda, Ronnie Ridling and wife Robyn, and Randy Ridling and wife Dana; grandchildren, Hether Shirey and husband Brian, Ashley Roof and husband Tanner, Ryan Ridling and wife Tatum, Richelle Clay and husband Denton, Risa Hayes and husband Arron, Natasha Lester and husband Chris, Randon Ridling and wife Courtney, Lance R. Yanda, and Tony Yanda and wife Kimberly; along with 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by one sister, Kay Dye-Levering, as well as numerous other relatives and many special friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sentinel Community Center, Sentinel Swimming Pool Fund, or any other local organization or charity of one’s choice.

Graveside services were held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Sentinel Cemetery.
