Obituary: Richard Lynn Adams 79, formerly of Cordell

Richard (Dick) Lynn Adams, 79, passed away Feb. 27, 2020, in his home, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

He was born July 28, 1940, in Superior, Wyo., to John and Ruby (Kettle) Adams. Dick grew up in Texico, N.M., where he was active in music and sports. After graduating from Texico High School he went to Eastern New Mexico State University and earned his bachelors in business.

He worked in irrigation sales and moved to Garden City, Kan. While there he met Mary Ann Jordan. They married in 1964. They had two children, Christopher Lynn and Andrea Lea. Dick and Mary Ann raised their kids in Cordell. Dick opened the Coast to Coast store in Cordell and later worked in the Farmers and National Bank for 15 years. He later became an economic developer in southwest Oklahoma and then moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, and Bullhead City, Ariz., where Mary Ann passed after 43 years of marriage.

Dick later met and married Lynne Siemens of Victorville, Calif. They enjoyed spending time together and traveling. Dick loved his family and music, especially jazz. He loved playing the drums. He was still playing in a band up until the end.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Janice Brown and Judy Dwyer; and his wife, Mary Ann. Dick is survived by wife, Lynne of the home; son Christopher Adams of Cleo Springs; daughter Andrea Adams of Santa Fe, N.M.; granddaughters Kari VanDusen and her husband Dalton, of Shawnee, and Kacee Adams of Edmond. A family only graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
