Gary Wayne Hines was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Rocky. He was the eldest son of John and Opal (Kitchens) Hines.
He was married to Adrienne Ann Adams on Sept. 24, 1960, in Oklahoma City. After serving in the Air Force, he returned to raise his family of four children in Oklahoma City where he was a successful food broker.
Gary passed away on Feb. 2, 2020, from complications related to congestive heart failure at the age of 78.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two of his children (Cheryle and Adam); his brother Larry and sister-in-law Vicki.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth and his wife Kathy of Norman, and Brad of Canon City, Colo. Surviving grandchildren include Stephanie Stevenson, Sarah Cowns, and Sheryl Underhill. He is also survived by his brother Gerald Hines of Yukon and two sisters, Janice (Nick) Clark of Oklahoma City, Anita Jo (Lee) Stuckey of Mustang, and sister-in-law, Viola of Clinton. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Nonnie, his faithful four-legged walking companion, also survives him.
Services were held at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. Interment was at El Reno Cemetery following the service. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com
