Mona Dobbs, 74, of Rocky, passed away July 22, 2019 in Oklahoma City. She was born on April 19, 1945, in Thorton, Calif. to Wyanard and Mable (Kelley) Slaughterback.
They moved to Rocky when she was 15 years old. She’s been a resident of Rocky for over 50 years. She married Lynn Dobbs on Jan. 10, 1966, in Rocky. Mona was 20 years old and Lynn was 19 years old and they were united in marriage by James Dobbs; they were happily married for 53 years.
She lived with Richard and Wanda Slaughterback for a year, and Fred and Nora Diffendaffer for four years. Mona was a CNA at Cordell Christian Home for 13 years. She also worked at the dry cleaners in Cordell for a year and a half, and at Kellwood in Clinton for three years. She was a member of the Church of The First Born. She enjoyed sewing and playing games with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, especially big holiday meals.
She is survived by her husband Lynn Dobbs, of the home; sons Bryan Dobbs and wife Barbara of Oklahoma City and Jason Dobbs and wife LeAnna of Rocky; daughter Cressie Dobbs-Bankert and husband Jerome of Altus; brothers Dennis Slaughterback and wife Connie of Cordell, John Slaughterback and wife Elizabeth of Lodi, Calif., and Bill Slaughterback and wife Juanita of Stockton, Calif.; sister Anita Neeley and husband Clint of Cordell; grandchildren Justin Dobbs of Oklahoma City, Christopher Dobbs of Wyoming, Clayton Dobbs of Sallisaw, London Flinn and husband Caleb of Tuttle, Bressia Busby of Carnegie, Treasure Harper and husband Jeremiah of Edmond, Monarosa Dobbs of Rocky; great-grandchildren Aspynn and Emmah Flinn and husband Clinton.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2019, at Church of the First Born in Rocky, with burial at Lone Star Cemetery in Rocky.
Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home, Cordell.
