Lorene Black, 85, of Cordell, passed away on May 5, 2020 in Corn. She was born Nov. 12, 1934, to George Bentley and Retha Belle (Rutherford) in Van Buren, Ark.

Lorene grew up and attended school in Cordell. She met Terry C. Black and they were united in marriage on June 30, 1951; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1997. Lorene loved being at home and taking care of her children. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist church in Cordell.

As a child she lived in the top of the Cordell Court House where her mother cleaned the Court House.

Lorene worked with her husband at Terry’s T.V. where he had purchased his own business. She loved working in her flower gardens. Her and Terry purchased a place at Fort Cobb down by the Lake where she and her husband enjoyed relaxing and vegetable gardening to get away from the cares and stress of the world. Other types of jobs was cleaning homes, banks and any other odd jobs just to get out of the house. She loved the outdoors.

She helped in the nursery at the Calvary Baptist Church because of the love she had for all the children.

Lorene’s best friends were Barbara and Coy Macbeth and Jim and Fay Franklin. She loved going to Colorado with her husband and best friends to go fishing and just enjoy the great outdoors.

Her great accomplishments in life were loving the Lord Jesus, having a great marriage, and raising children that were model citizens.

Lorene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two children, Terry Black and wife Leann, of Dill City, and Tammy Daniel and husband Roger of Cordell; three grandchildren, Kimberly Sylvester and husband Jason, Amber Gipson and husband Scott, and David Samuel Black; eight great-grandchildren: Reece Christian, Justin Sylvester, Kyler Sylvester, Paisley Gipson, Grayson Gipson, Amberly Gipson, Oakley Gipson, and Willow Gipson; brother J.C. Rutherford of Cordell; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sister Colleen Gwaltney; and two twin baby sisters; and two brothers, Jim Rutherford and Calvin Rutherford.

Graveside services were held at 1:00p.m., Friday, May 8, 2020, at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell.

Visitation was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020, and 9:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
