Jessie Marie (Cormack) Wedel was born on Oct. 7, 1931, in the farmhouse she grew up in west of Jefferson, passed from this earth into her loving Savior’s hands on Nov. 25, 2019.

She is predeceased by her mother, Nora Nanny Cormack, and her father, William James Cormack, and siblings, Roy James Cormack, Everett Miller, Thelma Miller and Emma Miller. Jessie is survived by two sisters, Mae Mund of Wagoner, and Betty June Prather of Hollywood, Fla.

Jessie attended Riverdale Country School, then the family moved to Jefferson where she graduated from high school.

Jessie attended the Christian Church in Jefferson, where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young girl. After high school, Jessie continued her education in nursing, attaining her LPN designation through formal education and accumulated experience. She met and married the love of her life, Arthur John Wedel on Jan. 17, 1956, in Cordell, and they were married 48 years. Art died on March 4, 2004.

Jessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cordell.

Jessie is survived by all six children: Allen James Wedel, Cordell, Randall John Wedel and wife Mary Linsenmeyer Wedel, Stillwater, Gary Joe Wedel, Cordell, Sheryl Jean Rust, Cordell, Deborah June Wedel, Yukon, and Timothy Jay Wedel and wife Kathy Thurman Wedel, Cordell.

Jessie is also survived by grandchildren Sarah Wedel, Jonathan Wedel and wife McKinzey, Madison Wedel, Jared Wedel and wife Alyssa, Jacob Wedel and wife Emma, Jean Fay and husband Jameson, Jennie Rust, and Tyler Wedel; great-grandchildren Canyon, Braylee and Brixton Wedel and Harper and Wren Wedel. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jessie touched so many lives in her daily walk, countless people whose lives were better from knowing and being around Jessie.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the dedicated staff and management of the Cordell Christian Home and Cordell Memorial Hospital for their loving care of Jessie over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either of these fine Cordell organizations.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, with the family welcoming guests from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Cordell, with interment to follow at Bible M.B. Cemetery in Bessie.
