Jerry Ray Hartronft, 78, of Dill City, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2020, at Great plains Regional Hospital in Elk City.

He was born July 9, 1941, to Morris Earl and Wilma (Parker) Hartronft in Oakland, Calif. Jerry grew up and attended grade school in Oakland, his family then moved back to home to Dill City in 1955. He attended Dill City High School and graduated in May of 1959.

After high school Jerry worked at the cotton gin in Dill City and he also did carpentry work in the area. Jerry then took interest in learning the funeral home business at Lawton with encouragement from relatives at the Hartronft Funeral Home in Cordell. Six weeks before he completed mortuary school, he was drafted by the United States Army and served form November 1963 to November 1965 in the Berlin Crisis in Berlin, Germany.

After his service in the Army, Jerry returned to Dill City and worked at the cotton gin, he also worked for Knights Irrigation Services and Kenneth Long’s Carpentry business. In February 1967, he met Pat Glass, a school teacher at Dill City school. They married July 1, 1967 in Dill City. To this union was born two sons, Stoney Ray, born Dec. 4, 1968, and Scotte Ray, born July 21, 1971.

Jerry worked for M.O.D.A. in Burns Flat for many years, until he and Gary Dew established Eagle Home Repair, a carpentry, electrical maintenance business in Burns Flat, later buying out Gary and becoming sole owner and operator. Jerry retired around 2012, but remained active helping others with their projects. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Pat Hartronft, of the home; sons Stoney Hartronft and wife Mandy of Dill City, and Scotte Hartronft of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren Jordan Ray Hartronft and Sevan Raychelle Hartronft. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Earl wayne Hartronft.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell. Visitation was from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Ray & Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell.
