Frieda Faye Jones, 88, of Cordell, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sept. 25, 2019, at the Cordell Christian Home. She was born on April 28, 1931, to Herbert & Ella (Emmerson) Merrill on a farm near Cloud Chief.

Frieda was the last of seven children, she grew up and attended school in Cowden and graduated from Cowden High School in 1949. During her school years she excelled in music.

She met Bill Jones, her high school sweetheart, they married on Aug. 7, 1949, at her parents home in Cowden. To this union was born three sons, Ken, Nick and Steve and later gained three wonderful daughters-in-law, Suzie, Leah and Michele.

Frieda and Bill farmed together her entire life, she also owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 40 years. Frieda loved to travel and was tour guide for a tour company for 17 years. Bill went with her on many of the trips, it all depended on how many days they would be gone.

She also served on the advisory board at the retirement village in Cordell for many years. Frieda enjoyed listening to gospel music, singing in the choir, and singing duets with her brother. She loved her family, she loved to watch her grandkids and she also loved to crochet, cook and bake. Frieda Faye will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family,

Survivors include her husband Kenneth “Bill” Jones of the home; sons Ken Jones and wife Suzie of Cordell; Nick Jones and wife Leah of Cordell; Steve Jones and wife Michele of Cordell; grandchildren Jenny Crocket and husband Kevin of Lubbock, Texas, Mitch Jones and wife Audrey of Cowden, Landon Jones of Cordell, Levi Jones and wife Tesa of Cordell, Kiesha Black and husband Nick of Cordell, and Seth Jones of Cordell; great-grandchildren McKenzie and Carrigan Crockett, Kord and Kal Jone, Cooper and Wyatt Jones, Emmerson and Oran Jones, Emrie Jones and Avereigh Black; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert and Ella Merrill; five brothers; one sister; and two granddaughters, Keegan Jones and Amy Jones.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Cordell, with interment at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell.
