Don was a vibrant man who lived life fully. He was well known for his big, bright smile, his open-mindedness, his easy-going demeanor, and his kindness. He was also known for making people feel safe and cared for. He encouraged everyone to remember to take care of themselves and to enjoy life. He enjoyed good food, spending time with his family and travelling, watching OU football, and fishing. In his younger years, Don excelled in martial arts, played golf, and surfing on the west coast.

Don owned and operated Shannon Roofing for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cordell.

Don married the love of his life, Earlena Scofield, on March 13, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a kind and patient father to Sarah and John, and a loving uncle to Matthew Gardner. He adored his grandchildren and shared a special bond with each of them.
