Betty Johnson was born in Foss on Dec. 15, 1934, to Ralph and Felda (Wiggins) Crabb, and passed away on Oct. 5, 2019, in Clinton at the age of 84.

Betty was raised in Foss, where she attended school at Burns Flat.

Betty married A.C. Johnson on March 6, 1952, in Wheeler, Texas. They moved to San Francisco, Calif., as well as Hominy and later to Dill City, where they made their home for over 60 years. To this union four children were born, Connie Jean, Jimmie Ralph, Merle Ann and Lisa Diane.

They raised their four children in Dill City. Betty worked at the grocery store in Dill City for many years, helped her parents run Crabb’s Trailer Park north of Burns Flat. She was co-owner of the Ceramic Shop in Dill City, and became a Farmers Union agent where she sold automobile and home insurance. She was a caregiver to her father, aunt and uncle. She raised all of her grandchildren until they started kindergarten.

She enjoyed waterskiing, sewing, raising a garden, and canning. Betty cherished spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending their sporting events and stock shows.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Felda Crabb; husband A.C. Johnson in 2015; one daughter, Lisa Johnson in 1977; and son Jimmie Johnson in 2004.

Betty’s survivors include daughter Connie Gay and husband Mickey of Canton, Texas; Merle Ray and fiancé Floyd King of Foss; daughter-in-law Nova Johnson of Dill City; sisters Bonnie Bookout of Dill City and Barbara Jones of Seminole; sisterin-laws Oletta Lewis of Livingston, Texas, and Cathy Johnson of Rocky; grandchildren Dustin Ray and wife Cary of Foss Lake, Shonda Fears and husband Brett of Mustang, Derrick Ray of Dill City, Lacey Johnson of Oklahoma City, Shaun Gay and wife Krystal of Killeen, Texas, Jaron Johnson of Dill City, and Dakota Ray of Dallas, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, and from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Cordell. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Dill City, with interment at Page Cemetery in Burns Flat.
