Alice Jenelle (Akers) Harris, 88, Altus, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Altus with Rev. Bill Carr officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Alice Jenelle Akers was born on October 22, 1932, in Cordell, Oklahoma to Charles T. and Mayme Akers. She graduated from high school in Cordell, Oklahoma, and attended Hills Business University in Oklahoma City and Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. Jenelle retired after 27 years of Federal Civil Service, having worked at Clinton-Sherman AFB, Oklahoma (where she met Bob), Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, Altus AFB, Oklahoma and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Jenelle married Robert “Bob” Harris on August 14, 1969 in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Altus, a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, a member of the Gamma Mothers Club, and past board member of both the Shortgrass Arts and Humanities Council in Altus and the Vernon Community Theater. Jenelle also belonged to the Republican Women’s Association and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; and brother, Dr. William G. “Bill” Akers.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Jack Glasscock and wife, Beverly, and Debbie Tupper; two grandchildren, Andy Jay Glasscock and wife, Korrin, and Brittany Roberts and husband, Bruce; and two great grandsons, Trip Roberts and Davin Glasscock..
