DILL WORK AND PLAY
by Lowayne Piercey The Dill Work and Play held a regular meeting August 11, 2026. Jane Shull called the meeting to order at 1:45pm. Sue Huddleston led the Flag salute. Jane gave the devotion “Count your gain and not your losses.” Lowayne Piercey read the minutes from July meeting and they were approved. Roll call was answered with “Name one thing you will be entering in the county fair,” with 7 members answering.
Anna Prickett gave the treasures report and collected money for club projects. Jane gave a county news report. The County Council and Fair Planning meeting which was to be held August 4 was canceled due to many members were ill. The Leader Lesson will be held August 18 with a Fair Planning to follow in the Extension Office from 9 to 3. Tables will be set up for the Fair August 24 at 3 to 6.
Lowayne gave a 4-H report: the 4-H are working on fair entries. School started August 11 and 4-H members plan to have their first meeting before the fair. The BFDC Education Foundation served breakfast August 10 to the teachers and Meet the Teachers was held for families 6 to 7 in the evening. Snow Cones were given to the children as they left school. Wilma Gathright gave a Parliamentarian report.
Jane gave the lesson for today, County Fair Organization, with each member telling what they plan to enter in the fair. We should have a complete exhibit. All members will be helping with the fair.
Anita Clayton showed a quilt she made for her new grandbaby. He will officially theirs September 3. Everyone gave best wishes.
The group dismissed with the Lord’s Prayer. Jane served refreshments. Lowayne gave a door prize won by Jane. Members participating today were Jane Shull, Anna Prickett, Wilma Gathright, Sue Huddleston, Anita Clayton, Emma Bingham, and Lowayne Piercey.
