Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I am seventeen years old. I love to learn everyday, so I enjoy being at school. My favorite subject is math, and my favorite elective at school is band. I have no pets. I have one sibling, Samuel Lindsey, who is in the eighth grade.

How has your school year been so far?

Every year is different, but if every year was the same, school would be boring. Of course, we are still overcoming the challenges that have been presented to us, but it is such a blessing just to be able to be in school. Personally, school is the way I push myself to grow, not only in my education, but also personally. The beginning of a new school year is normally hard and stressful because my mind switches from a very loose summer schedule to a more strict daily schedule. This school year, over all, has been one of growth for me, but it has also presented so many good things.

What have been some of your favorite memories from during your time in school?

I have so many fond memories of band. One of my favorites comes from a football game. It was pouring rain, so the band was inside. My friends and I were sitting, when Kennedy Roach came over and poured water on my head. Now, I had done my best to keep from getting wet at the game, so I was relatively dry, except for the water that she poured on my head. So, as if it was a natural reaction, I just dumped the rest of the water from my cup (like a quarter of a cup) directly on her face. After that, everyone in the group just died laughing.

What has been your favorite part of school and why?

I love to learn or improve my skills. Therefore, my favorite part about school is learning. Whether it is learning a new instrument or a new equation, learning is the best part of school. School would not be the same without my friends, whom I share most of my classes with. My favorite part of band has to be the performances, and seeing how far the band has progressed in the music. Watching the music come off the page with individuality is the Cordell Band, a true group of musicians.

Are you in any sports, clubs, or other extra curricular activities? For example art, FFA, Ag, academic team, band, etc.

I am involved with Band, as the Drum major, and the Cordell Academic Team. I am also a member of The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

What are you most excited for this school year?

I am excited to see the band transform our marching show, and hopefully we will be able to receive superior ratings at the competition.

Who are your parents?

James and Beth Lindsey

What is it that motivates you to try to do well in class?

I enjoy working hard at things that I sign up for. As listed above, I am not in many activities, and this is because whatever I do sign up for I want to be perfect at. There is a quote by Dave Ramsey, “If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.” I am very future minded, so I really work hard so that in the future the work and the habit of hard work will pay off.

What do you do when you’re not in school? Do you have any hobbies like playing video games, sports, playing outside, etc.?

Outside of school I enjoy learning, practicing, and playing the piano. I am also very involved with the First Baptist Church, and I enjoy going on youth events. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Also, I enjoy learning more about personal finance and technology.

What are your plans looking like after you graduate? What type of career do you want to try and pursue?

Although plans can change in an instant, I am currently planning on pursuing masters’ degrees in business, with an emphasis in analytics, and economics. With my degree, I plan on working to become department head at a major corporation, or I would like to open up my own business consulting firm.

If there’s anything else you’d like to say, feel free to do so here.

I play the trombone in band. I have received the honor of participating in the All-Region and ShortGrass Honor Bands for 4 years. I am the drum major, and I serve as a section leader to the trombones, and I also am on band council. I have received the honor of receiving superior ratings at the district solo contest for four years, and I was named a superior state soloist last year. In band, I have also participated in jazz band, and a wind ensemble.
