Last week, the Cordell Chamber of Commerce hosted this year’s 2021 Bingo Nights event during the Washita County Free Fair.

Bingo Nights, which has been a part of the fair for many years, gives local businesses a chance to help promote their work and their presence in the community.

One way this is done is through the prizes, such as small gifts, gift cards, and gift baskets, won during bingo which the Chamber collects from local businesses.

Taking place outside of the Activities Building, players can buy cards for fifty cents a card per game with some players playing up to four cards at a time.

Being a family-friendly event and having participants as young as six and as old as 80, the Chamber does its best to make it as fun as possible for all ages to enjoy.

With the myriad of prizes available, the Chamber keeps the games going until every prize is gone, as funds brought in from the event are used by the Chamber to get ready for the Pumpkin Festival.

This year, it was wonderful to be back at the fair playing bingo. Players started at 6 p.m. with the first round and ended the night at 8:45 p.m. with the last prize.

And throughout the night players really get into the game yelling things such as, “oh man, one more number,” and “that isn’t the number I needed.”

While everyone knows it is just a game, it is still fun to see them get that, “BINGO!” With around 45 prizes this year, there was something for everyone to try and win.

With some participants stopping in for a few rounds and some playing all night, the best part of Bingo Nights is just seeing everyone and the smiles on their faces.

The Cordell Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the local businesses for the donated prizes because without all of you this would have not been as fun.

We would like to thank Kent Sawyer from Equity Bank for coming out both nights and calling numbers with us.

It is wonderful to see the Chamber members want to be a part of the community as much as the Chamber wants to be.

Also, a thank you to those on the Chamber board that came out and helped with calling numbers and loading everything back up.

Next, a big thank you to the Washita County Fair board for allowing us to put this event on for the community.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who came out and played some bingo. We can’t wait until next year.

Coming up, residents can look forward to our next Chamber event, the 34th Annual Cordell Pumpkin Festival on October 9th, 2021.
