Tommy Merrill

Tommy Merrill, 68, of Cordell, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on June 6th, 2021 at his home in Cordell, Oklahoma. He was born on October 20th, 1952 to Buck and Betty D. (Crawford) Merrill in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Methodist Church in Cordell. Tommy grew up and attended school in Cordell and graduated from Cordell High School in 1971. After high school Tommy attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and received his Associates Degree. Tommy served as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves. He was a Freemason, a member 3 masonic lodge, a member of the 32nd Degree Freemason in the Scottish Rite and a Medal of Honor Recipient for the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma. He worked for the Cordell Fire Department for many years, becoming Fire Chief. Tommy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his children and grandchildren. Survivors include: Children-Jachin Merrill & husband Ben Brown of OKC, OK; Haley Shelburne & Husband Justin of Hobart, OK; Maghin Abernathy & husband Bobby of Tulsa, OK; Kennedy Merrill of Mustang, OK.

God Daughter: Nikki Keck & husband Kevin of Blanchard, OK

Grandchildren: Blaine Larsen, Rylen Larsen, Wyatt Shelburne, Blaine Shelburne, Breck Abernathy, and Claire Abernathy

Brothers: Randy Merrill & wife Kim of Tucson, AZ; Timmy Merrill of Cordell, OK. Sisters: Michele Greg & husband Lee of Cordell, OK; LaDonna Luedtke & husband John of Houston, TX

Numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his Parents.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Cordell School Auditorium, Cordell, Oklahoma. Interment: Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma.
