Washita County has recorded its eighth death attributed to COVID-19, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.

The OSDH said the latest death is a male in the 65 and older age group.

The total number testing positive in the county has slowed significantly in the last seven days. The number is now 1,050. It was 1,043 a week ago, an increase of only seven over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 1,024 and three weeks ago it stood at 993.

Of the 1,050 cases, 1,005 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Of the positive cases, Cordell has the most with 322. Of those, 312 have recovered. Last week there were 320 positive cases. Of those, 301 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 142 positive cases a week ago, has not recorded anymore positives. It has the second highest number in the county. Of those, 135 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 132 compared to 131 last week and has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 109. Of the 132 cases in Canute, 123 have recovered and 105 have recovered in Sentinel.

Sentinel also has one of the deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19, the OSDH reports.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 63 and 61; Rocky 37 and 35.

Statewide as of Monday, 419,853 people have tested positive, there have been 4,203 deaths and 400,597 who have recovered. Active cases stand at 15,053, the OSDH said.

Last week there were 414,272 testing positive, there had been 4,041 deaths and 398,035 had recovered. There were 21,196 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported 499 new positive cases con firmed and 22 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 2.9 million people have tested negative.
