Barbara Joan Post Hamilton

Barbara Joan Post was born January 2, 1935 in Brinkman, Oklahoma. She departed this life on May 21, 2018, at home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The Mangum Star reported that Barbara was the first baby born in Greer County in 1935. Barbara was the second child born to Fannie Dan and Ira Herman Post. She grew up around Willow most of her life, she graduated from Ocina High School in 1952. She later enrolled at OU in Norman at the age of 17 but only attended one semester because her high school sweetheart, Charles Benton Dewees, asked for her hand in marriage. Through this union they had three sons, Charles Michael, Kenneth Ray and Roy Lynn and a daughter, Cheryl Gaye. Barbara was later married to Bob Hamilton, of Sayre, Oklahoma, and moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where they have lived for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Bob Hamilton of the home, her brother, Max Post and his children—Matt, Cindy and Becky, her sister, Carolyn Shook and her husband, Winfred, Carolyn’s son Tom McDaniel, sons Charles Michael and wife Karen, Kenneth Ray and wife Joan, Roy Lynn and wife Roxann, and daughter, Cheryl Gaye and husband Loch McCulloch. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family. Barbara will be laid to rest at the Willow Cemetery on June 5, at 11:30 a.m.
