Washita County COVID-19 cases continue rise

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has risen again some throughout the past week.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 814. It was 738 a week ago, an increase of 76 over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 660 and three weeks ago it stood at 585.

Of the 814 cases, 690 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 238 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 200 have recovered. Last week there were 211 positive cases. Of those, 179 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 106 a week ago, now has 114 positive cases, the second highest number in the county. Of those, 93 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 105, up from the 101 last week and has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 85. Of the 105 cases in Canute, 95 have recovered and 79 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 54 and 38; Rocky 27 and 23.

Statewide as of Monday, 306,771 have tested positive, there have been 2,552 deaths and 267,573 who have recovered. Active cases stand at 36,646 the OSDH said.

Last week there were 282,597 testing positive, there had been 2,383 deaths and 244,676 had recovered. There were 35,528 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported nearly 2,700 new positive cases confirmed and 5 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 2,300,000 people have tested negative.
