Lonnie Sappington, son of Charlie V. and Margie (Dickerson) Sappington was born August 31, 1942 about halfway between Cowden and Cloud Chief in Washita County, OK.

He passed from this life December 25, 2020 at Cordell Christian Home Lonnie had been in failing health for the last two-plus years. In November it became necessary for him to have more care than was available in home so the move was made to Angelwood Assisted Living of Clinton.

He was just getting settled in and adjusted to the move when a trip to the emergency room and an overnight stay in the hospital forced a move to the Cordell nursing home. He passed the next day.

Lonnie attended Cowden School until it closed in 1958 then he continued and graduated at Colony High School. He married and fathered a son and a daughter as a young man. On July 30, 1982 Lonnie and Ona Louise Garrison were married at Wheeler, Texas.

He worked at several places over the years and was a Cordell Policeman until he retired and went to work for Sewell Brothers as a truck driver. Failing health forced him to give up the truck in 2018.

Lonnie was predeceased by both parents, his wife, Ona, and a step-son, Kyle Garrison. He is survived by a brother, Charles Sappington and wife, Linda; a sister Raneta Haley and husband, Wendell; one son, Donnie Sappington; one daughter Kim Davis-Coniglio; Two step-sons, Byron and Kendall Garrison; and four grand daughters, Tonya Compton, Casey Henry, Christina Cardoza, and Gia Davis-Coniglio; also a number of in-laws, other kindred and a ton of friends.

Lonnie always did things his own way and he is going to be missed.

A memorial service will soon be held at Sappington Chapel Cemetery south of Cowden. The time for this will be announced in a few days.
