Funeral services for Edwin P. Frantz, 89 of Edmond will be held Thursday December 24, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, Oklahoma. Edwin P. Frantz was born July 26, 1931 the son of Ruben and Martha Frantz in their home in Balko, Oklahoma. He died Monday December 21, 2020 in Edmond. Edwin was raised near the small town of Balko, in the Oklahoma Panhandle. After graduating from high school in 1949 from Corn Bible Academy, he married Johanna Reimer on March 25, 1951 in Corn, Oklahoma. In 1952 they became parents to twins, Roger and Jeanette.

Edwin was a farmer and rancher and raised wheat and alfalfa. He felt God called him to be a farmer and he did his very best. Farming and ranching were not only his occupation, but also his life. He took pride in raising his crops and cow herd, which produced many prize-winning steers. Many of his club calves won Champion awards. His last year to raise club calves, one of his steers won Grand Champion at the American Royal. What an honor! After living on their farm for 60 years, it came time for them to sell the farms. In 2011, they retired from farming and moved from their beloved farm life to city life in Edmond, Oklahoma. They resided at Parkview at Touchmark. They made many new friends, but always missed the slower pace of country life. Edwin and Johanna have three grandchildren, Chris, Erin, and Jason. While they were growing up, many rides were given on the tractor and 4-wheeler. They loved going to the farm and being spoiled by their grandparents. Tractor rides and horse rides were also enjoyed by the nieces and nephews, which were a treasured part of Edwin’s (aka Uncle Bud’s) life. Edwin and his wife loved to travel and were able to visit many places around the world. Edwin was a member of the Corn Mennonite Brethern Church. He also was a charter member of the #2 Rural Water Association.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Martha Frantz, son Roger, sister Marge Barnett, and sister in law Theresa Frantz.

He was survived by his wife Johanna, of the home, daughter and son in law Ron and Jeanette Gordon of Edmond, grandson and spouse Chris and Toni Ferguson of Chickasha, granddaughter and spouse Richard and Erin McCauley of Piedmont, and grandson and spouse Jason and Morgan Ferguson of Blanchard, four great grandchildren Addison Ferguson, Hudson Ferguson, Gracie McCauley, and Benton Ferguson, brother Norman Frantz of Denver, Colorado, brother in law Cliff Barnett of Lubbock, Texas, half sister Patricia Frantz, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
