Despite the cancellation of the 2020 prom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cordell’s students still had the chance to celebrate the year and enjoy each other’s company.

Several ideas were presented as possible makeup events for prom, but in the end the students decided to spend a day at Oklahoma City’s Frontier city.

Students loaded up on the buses and made the trek to Frontier city early Monday morning. Upon arrival masks were handed out to each student and students were briefed on the rules about their usage within the park.

Unfortunately, the fun day at Frontier City planned by the school was cut short due to storms in the area. Students got to spend about four hours at the park before rides were shut down and the park was cleared.

The party then relocated to Main Event to stay out of the rain and continue the fun. CHS prom attendees spent another four hours bowling, playing arcade games, and eating pizza. The students were then loaded back onto the bus at 6pm to make the two hour drive home.

To make up for the unfortunate closure of the park, rain checks were given to each individual in attendance, to come back another time free of charge.
